Our Council recognizes the importance of doing our part to limit the release of greenhouse gases and the effects of climate change. Our residents can each play a part in this effort but oftentimes the capital dollars needed to make necessary changes in their own home are insurmountable, even though it would lead to significant savings in the long run. For that reason, MOPC is initiating the Switch MOPC Program that will allow County residents to borrow the capital costs from their local government for improvements to their personal home that will lead to energy savings, including solar installations and pay back over a number of years. Together, we can all do our part to reverse the negative effects of climate change and save money at the same time.

Program Summary

The goal of the Switch MOPC Program is to make home energy upgrades simple and financially accessible. Participants receive support from a personal Energy Concierge, who guides them through every step—helping with contractor selection, project planning, and navigating the financing process to ensure a smooth experience. Your Energy Concierge also helps identify all available incentives and rebates to ensure you receive the maximum savings possible.

Alongside the Energy Concierge service, the program offers financing to remove the barrier of upfront costs. The program pays contractors directly, allowing homeowners to repay through small monthly payments over 10 years. Financing is designed to be affordable, with many participants seeing energy cost reductions that help offset their loan payments.*

Key Financing Terms

Financing through your property, not personal credit
Interest rate is fixed for the loan term upon signing your participation agreement! (currently 7.45%)
10 year loan terms
One time 5%+HST project and loan administration fee
Early, partial or full repayments accepted
Finance up to $65,000 or 25% of your property value (whichever is lower)
